Transforming Your Mindset: The Power of Positive Thought Mantras

Fitness Goals - Juliet Martine Blog

Dear Soul,

Shhh! Stop and listen!

What are you thinking right now?

If you listen carefully enough, you'll hear the whisperings of your inner mantras echoing through your thoughts.

We tend to think of mantras as being mysterious sacred words passed down by spiritual masters and gurus. However in reality our mantras extend into the more everyday realm that is our thought patterns and repetitive thoughts.

What is a Mantra?

To me, a mantra is any repetitive word, sound or thought that draws our focus. Perhaps you're already familiar with some of these not-so-sacred, yet ancient mantras we humans tend to share:

  • I'm so stressed

  • Quick, hurry

  • If only I had….

  • She / He’s an idiot

  • I'm so fat / unattractive

  • It’s so hard

  • I don’t have enough time / money / friends

  • I’m so crap / pathetic / bad at that

  • It’s not safe

  • It’s their fault

Do you happen to recognise any of these?

My personal favourite is around not having enough time to do everything I want to do. What's yours? What's the message you repeatedly say to yourself about your Self, the people or things around you, or the world in which you live? And more importantly, what's the energy of the mantras you're sending out into the world that are attracting your reality of lived experiences back to you?

The repetitive messages we think and put out into the world can either help or hinder us, depending on whether they feed us with energy based on love and abundance, or flood us with the energy that is fear and lack.

Change your Mantras—Change your life

The great news is, you hold the power to create and choose whatever mantras you like. You can choose thought patterns or mantras that take you forward in life and support you in ways that uplift and empower you. Or you can choose to repeat thought patterns and mantras that keep you stuck in old realities and take you in the opposite direction you want to go.

When I'm jogging I repeat two mantras or positive affirmations: ‘I value myself’ (on the in breath) and ‘I take my time' (on the out breath). This shifts my focus away from any strain I may be feeling or shortness of breath and boosts my energy to give me a positive focus and direction. As I do this my entire being falls into a natural, harmonious rhythm. I stop focussing on my perceived challenges and limitations and I end up running twice as long as I would otherwise.

I also have a mantra I repeat when I'm stuck in traffic or getting uptight. I have one for when I'm short on time or feeling pressured in any way. One for when I'm doubting myself or losing sight of my inner value and worth. And even one when I'm faced with doing a domestic task that I'm not that keen on doing.

Mantras hold the power to change our energy., To shift us from negative, limited, destructive vibrational frequencies, to transform us into more positive, expansive, ‘can do’ frequencies that change our experiences in life.

Creating Better Mantras

Make your mantras short and sweet. Only a few words or a short phrase, stated in the positive, transforming your difficulty into ease. It's not so much about creating a mantra which you totally, whole-heartedly believe to be 100% true. This is usually not the case, at least not until you've become familiar with your mantra for a while.

Mantras are more about changing your internal frequency, creating clearer energy for your body and entire being.

If you're stuck in the groove of a negative thought pattern or perspective on things, try one of the following mantra transformations. Simply identify the negative mantra you're currently running and then repeat the corresponding positive mantra either silently or out loud as many times a day as possible, at least 10 times at a go. Alternatively, create your own new mantras and notice how differently you feel after you've used it repeatedly for a while.

Limiting Mantras:

  • I don’t have enough time

  • I don’t have enough money

  • I don’t have enough friends

  • Damn traffic

  • If only I had more/less...

  • She/He's an idiot

  • It's so hard

  • I'm so crap/pathetic/useless

  • I'm ugly/fat/unattractive

  • It's not safe

  • It's their fault

Expansive Mantras:

  • I take my time and am in flow with Universal timing

  • Money comes easily to me. I have an abundant flow of money

  • I am surrounded by friends who love and appreciate me

  • I flow with ease with the traffic as I arrive at my destination with plenty of time to spare

  • I have plenty of ….

  • We all cope the best way we know how

  • I am living in a loving Universe. My life is flowing with ease and grace

  • I am confident, strong and capable on every level of my being

  • I fully love and accept myself exactly as I am in the knowing that who I am is more than beautiful enough to be loved and appreciated, inside and out

  • I am safe and protected on every level of my being

  • I take full responsibility for what is mine, release all that is not mine, and trust that all is always well in my life

Repeat your positive expansive mantras any time, any where. Use them when you're in the shower, exercising, in a meeting, in a stressful situation, or as you drift off to sleep at night. Think them, say them, sing them, even hum them. You cannot use them enough.

Think of them as being Soul vitamins for your body, heart and mind, that will nourish and support you in ways that you can never affirm them too much.

Whatever the situation, there's always a life-affirming mantra to support and uplift your vibrational frequency. So get started, grab a mantra, and feel the difference it makes to your body, your sense of well being, and to the energy you experience in your day.

With fierce love, radiant joy, heartfelt compassion, infinite curiosity, and unwavering truth,

ree
